Our book fairies around the world always have such wonderful stories to share! Megan, our official Ohio book fairy in the US, had a spectacular time hiding Irish themed books at the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, a suburb in Columbus, Ohio.
An Irish Themed Book Drop in Ohio
Hi! I’m Megan, the official Ohio book fairy (@bookfairies_ohio ). Over the weekend of August 5-6, some of our book fairies in Ohio hid copies of Cindy Thomson’s Birgid of Ireland at the Dublin Irish Festival, which was held in little suburb called Dublin in Columbus, Ohio. When I first met with Cindy a couple months ago to pick up the books she was donating, she asked me where book fairies typically hid books. I quickly replied, “Everywhere. But we try to find a location that resonates with an aspect of the book”. From there the conversation grew about how it would be perfect to hide the copies of her book either around Dublin or at the Dublin Irish Festival coming up later this summer.
About the Book Drop
To kick off the special weekend, a copy of Birgid of Ireland was hid in historic Dublin (a suburb of Columbus that has Irish influence) with a social media post announcing that copies were going to be hid at the Irish Festival that weekend. At the festival, it was hard to pick just one spot to hide the books! Copies were hid at the entrances, at the Celtic Rock Stage and amongst some beautiful handmade Irish boxes.
Being able to work with a local author, pair a book with a great location and work with some of our Ohio book fairies was an amazing experience. I’m looking forward to doing more book drops like this!
About The Book
In 5th-century pagan-dominated Ireland, Brigid is born a slave to her own father and is separated from her mother. Desperately seeking love and acceptance, Brigid becomes a believer in Christ. Knowing how the Irish people cling to superstitions and fears, can Brigid overcome them? Will her hatred for her father and a scheming evil sorcerer destroy her faith?
