Book Fairies in Portugal bring the magic to a digital summit

We love reading and sharing stories from book fairies around the world! This one comes from Marina, in Portugal!

A book fairy from Portugal attended Web Summit last week and dropped several books! The Web Summit is known to be one of the biggest tech conferences in Europe and took place from the 4th to 7th of November 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal.

About The Web Summit in Portugal

Forbes has said that Web Summit is “the best technology conference on the planet”; The Atlantic that Web Summit is “where the future goes to be born” and The New York Times that we assemble “a grand conclave of the tech industry’s high priests.”

Bringing the magic through books

One of our fairies thought it was an excellent opportunity to drop some books! Equipped with stickers, the ‘I Believe in Book Fairies’ tote bag and the ‘free book’ bookmarks, our fairy dropped ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ by Alexandra Potter inside the conference, near a huge Web Summit panel, ‘The Cell’ by Colin Forbes outside the Altice Arena at Parque das Nações and ‘I Was Jane Austen’s Best Friend’ by Cora Harrison near Pavilion 1, inside the Feira International de Lisboa.

About ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’

Heather Hamilton is always wishing for things. Not just big stuff – like world peace or for a date with Brad Pitt – but little, everyday wishes, made without thinking. With her luck, she knows they’ll never come true…

Until one day she buys some heather from a gypsy. Suddenly the bad hair days stop; a handsome American answers her ad for a housemate; and she starts seeing James – The Perfect Man who sends her flowers, excels in the bedroom, and isn’t afraid to say ‘I love you’…

But are these wishes-come-true a blessing or a curse? And is there such a thing as too much foreplay?

About ‘The Cell’

The search for a frighteningly powerful murderer leads Tweed and his two colleagues, Paula Grey and Bob Newman, once again to travel the world. This time they are joined by Jules Beaurain, old friend of Tweed’s and ex-police officer from Belgium.

About ‘I Was Jane Austen’s Best Friend’

This is the secret diary of Jenny Cooper, Jane Austen’s teenage friend and confidante. Their evenings are a blur of beautiful dresses, balls, gossip and romance; their days are spent writing about them – Jenny in her diary, Jane in her first attempts at fiction. When Jenny falls utterly in love with a handsome naval officer, obstacles stand in their way. Who better to help her than Jane herself, who already considers herself an expert in love and relationships?
