We were delighted to be part of the release for Deepa Anappara’s hardback novel which has a child narrator and an incredible plot climax.
Book fairies loved preparing copies of Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line – ready for hiding up and down the UK! From the coast of Cornwall all the way up to the Highlands, lucky finders stumbled upon these beautiful hardbacks.
Were you lucky enough to find a copy?
Book fairies were out bright and early, finding beautiful places to hide the books. We travelled far and wide, visiting train stations and outdoor spaces – as well as looking for anything to do with EYES to match the cover!
We absolutely love being involved in book launches and this was no different – it’s an incredible story and deserves all the hype around it!
About the book:
Three weeks ago I was only a schoolkid but now I’m a detective and also a tea-shop boy… Nine-year-old Jai watches too many reality cop shows, thinks he’s smarter than his friend Pari (even though she always gets top marks) and considers himself to be a better boss than Faiz (even though Faiz is the one with a job). When a boy at school goes missing, Jai decides to use the crime-solving skills he has picked up from episodes of Police Patrol to find him.
With Pari and Faiz by his side, Jai ventures into some of the most dangerous parts of the sprawling Indian city; the bazaar at night, and even the railway station at the end of the Purple Line.
But kids continue to vanish, and the trio must confront terrified parents, an indifferent police force and soul-snatching djinns in order to uncover the truth.

Would you like to be a book fairy?
We would love for you to join us! All you need is a set of official stickers and a pile of books you want to hide – and these can absolutely be used books! Ones you have read and mean something to you. In fact, this is even better as you can include a note inside!
Found “To The Moon and Back” by Jill Mansell at the Bristol Aquarium back in summer of 2019 whilst on holiday from Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Really enjoyed the book and passed it on to my sister-in-law. Now going to leave it somewhere in Guernsey for somebody else to enjoy. Sorry it’s taken so long!
Oh how wonderful! Thank you for letting us know, Maureen! Hope you enjoy hiding it too 🙂
