Olive got to visit all the places she hangs out in London this weekend and found some new readers for this brand new paperback from Emma Gannon…
“We all have things we are finding hard, and those times might come at different times for each of us. The important thing is, we need to be there for each other. Life isn’t a race.”
– Olive, by Emma Gannon
Our London fairies followed the plot of the novel while Olive also popped up in various places around the UK! Here are a few of the quotes and locations they found.
“Isla and I have decided to meet for an afternoon picnic in Green Park..”

Our London book fairies hid copies at the beautiful ‘Co-existance’ elephants hiding around the capital.
“I swear it was the one where Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts hung out in ‘Notting Hill’…”

I mean yes, the quote is actually referring to a private London garden BUT….. it’s The Ritz! Had to leave one there!!
“I have plenty of friends brought up in London. They turned out alright”
When discussing where is best to bring up children, Olive and her friends have some balanced discussion about the capital!
“It has been SO fun going on a virtual Olive tour around London with your posts… Kind of the opposite to when a film can ruin the book… scrolling through those has enriched my imaginative experience of the book!“
– a DM through our London instagram
“After a slow afternoon back at work we went to a small bar just off Soho Square…”

Olive works in an office near Soho Square, and so there were many different locations at which to leave a copy!
“I leg it across London to get to Waterloo…”

“We met when we were working at a bookshop on Broadway Market…”

About the book:
The debut novel from the Sunday Times bestselling author, Emma Gannon.
Independent. Adrift. Anxious Loyal. Kind. Knows her own mind.
Olive is many things, and it’s ok that she’s still figuring it all out, navigating her world without a compass. But life comes with expectations, there are choices to be made, boxes to tick and – sometimes – stereotypes to fulfil. And when her best friends’ lives start to branch away towards marriage and motherhood, leaving the path they’ve always followed together, Olive starts to question her choices – because life according to Olive looks a little bit different.
Moving, memorable and a mirror for every woman at a crossroads, Olive has a little bit of all of us. Told with great warmth and nostalgia, this is a modern tale about the obstacle course of adulthood, milestone decisions and the ‘taboo’ about choosing not to have children.
