Edie and the Box of Flits hidden by The Book Fairies St Pancras London

Edie and the Box of Flits is brought above ground by The Book Fairies!

Kate Wilkinson’s magical new novel has been hidden up and down the UK… at places where Flits might be hiding!

The Book Fairies were delighted to find great hiding spots for these little railway-dwelling creatures! No station was safe from a book fairy gift today.

Book fairies left copies at many sites of historical interest, including the world’s first public steam railway (Darlington), Scotland’s first and now lost underground railway (Edinburgh’s Innocent Railway Tunnel) and even the first tunnel connecting us to France – the Eurostar (London St Pancras)!

We know that only children of 13 or under can spot a Flit, and we hope that they can also spot these treats hidden around the UK today!

About the book:

A modern classic for readers of THE BORROWERS – about eleven-year-old Edie Winter and her magical box of winged people that only children can see.

When eleven-year-old Edie Winter finds a mysterious box on the London Underground she’s amazed to discover that it’s home to a family of Flits – tiny winged people. But Impy, Speckle and Nid need Edie’s help. Not only do they need supplies (rice crispies, sugar sprinkles, digestive biscuits and raisins) and someone to look after them, but their brother Jot has run away and they need Edie’s help to find him.

Set against the backdrop of London and its Underground network, EDIE AND THE BOX OF FLITS is a story about friendship, family and noticing the little things in life. With delightful black-and-white illustrations by animator, cartoonist and illustrator Joe Berger.
