Book fairies made their way to locations featured in this fresh new paperback to really bring the story and characters to life!
Following the plot of The Upper World…
Our London book fairies enjoyed leaving copies of The Upper World at key locations in the book, while book fairies outside of London headed to locations related to science, maths and time travel…!
About the book:
Esso is running out of time and into trouble. When he discovers he has the ability to see glimpses of the future, he becomes haunted by a vision of a bullet fired in an alleyway with devastating consequences.
A generation later, fifteen-year-old Rhia is desperately searching for answers – and a catastrophic moment from the past holds the key to understanding the parents she never got to meet.
Whether on the roads of South London or in the mysterious Upper World, Esso and Rhia’s fates must collide.
And when they do, a race against the clock will become a race against time itself . . .
Here are some of our favourite pics from the day!

“I rounded the final corner on to the road where the 36 was scheduled to stop in less than a minute.”

“Spark was my guy. And a nice guy, at least to me. He and I had lived on the same estate since we were six, so I knew him well.”

“They were cheap crap dodgy guns that feds used in Russia to fire tear gas at protesters. And apparently, with a few tweaks, you could upgrade it to fire bullets at kids like me in London.”

“I’ll surprise him with that sliding kick that Ken does in Street Fighter – I’m pretty sure I saw some guy pull that off in Burgess Park once. I think.”

“I could almost hear the cracking of hail on the pavement, almost see Peckham Library in the background.”

“Filling one corner of my vision is the orange surfboard that sits on top of Peckham Library. I’m in a narrow alleyway – it feels weirdly familiar, but I can’t place it; it’s too dark.”
Some very lucky finders!

Not lucky this time?
The Upper World is available in all good book shops! You can even ask them to order one in if they don’t have a copy in stock – and this would usually arrive the very next day! If you cannot get down to the shops, you can still support indie book shops by ordering your copy of The Upper World at Bookshop.org!
