Freya was an absolute natural as a book fairy, finding great spots to hide her new novel!
Debut author Freya Sampson was excited to launch her novel The Last Library today, in style – with The Book Fairies! Not only were copies hidden up and down the UK, but Freya herself became a book fairy to hide her book around London!
Freya kindly signed every single copy that we hid in London, so the lucky finders have an extra treat! Each book includes a book fairy library card sticker, because, how could we not?! We prepared the books with stickers, bookmarks and ribbons, and headed out for a walk around London…
Hiding books in London!
Freya hit the best places in London to hide copies of The Last Library and was lucky enough to see lots of the books picked up RIGHT AWAY! She was so excited to launch her book in this unique way.
About the book:
June Jones emerges from her shell to fight for her beloved local library, and through the efforts and support of an eclectic group of library patrons, she discovers life-changing friendships along the way.
Lonely librarian June Jones has never left the sleepy English village where she grew up. Shy and reclusive, the thirty-year-old would rather spend her time buried in books than venture out into the world. But when her library is threatened with closure, June is forced to emerge from behind the shelves to save the heart of her community and the place that holds the dearest memories of her mother.
Joining a band of eccentric yet dedicated locals in a campaign to keep the library, June opens herself up to other people for the first time since her mother died. It just so happens that her old school friend Alex Chen is back in town and willing to lend a helping hand. The kindhearted lawyer’s feelings for her are obvious to everyone but June, who won’t believe that anyone could ever care for her in that way.
To save the place and the books that mean so much to her, June must finally make some changes to her life. For once, she’s determined not to go down without a fight. And maybe, in fighting for her cherished library, June can save herself, too.
A run in with The Police…
Freya is pretty high-profile, and her activity today didn’t go unnoticed! The Police at Scotland Yard had no choice but to seize a copy of The Last Library, and at one point she was taken off on a Police bike!
Hidden at libraries around the UK
Not only did Freya hide books in London, but book fairies all around the UK headed to their local libraries to support them and showcase them with pics and social media posts – and, of course, leaving a copy of The Last Library somewhere nearby…
