#LWBookFairies Little Women activity with Emma Watson!

In December 2019, Emma Watson officially announced our #LWBookFairies activity! Book fairies around the world joined her in hiding a total of 2,000 copies of Little Women, in celebration of the film release. As part of the activity, a variety of editions (122 to be exact!) were hidden for some very lucky finders. There was also a note hidden inside each copy, from Emma herself, who played Meg March in the film.

Where were the books hidden?

Books fairies in the following countries hid copies of Little Women as part of this campaign:

Become a book fairy where you live!

About the book:

Generations of readers young and old, male and female, have fallen in love with the March sisters of Louisa May Alcott’s most popular and enduring novel, Little Women. Here are talented tomboy and author-to-be Jo, tragically frail Beth, beautiful Meg, and romantic, spoiled Amy, united in their devotion to each other and their struggles to survive in New England during the Civil War.

Little Women brought Louisa May Alcott lasting fame and fortune, and far from being the “girl’s book” her publisher requested, it explores such timeless themes as love and death, war and peace, the conflict between personal ambition and family responsibilities, and the clash of cultures between Europe and America.

Emma Watson has announced that starting today, book fairies around the globe are hiding over 2,000 copies of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, Little Women. The Book Fairies hide books every day, each adorned with a sticker which reads ‘Take this book, read it & leave it for the next person to enjoy’. In anticipation of the release of the new Little Women movie, in which Watson stars as Meg March, book fairies are celebrating the novel and delighting book finders along the way.

Every copy of the novel that The Book Fairies hid contained a note from Emma herself. In the note, which was handwritten, Emma talks about her enjoyment of being in the film, and hopes that the finder enjoys the book, mentioning also the campaign hashtag #LWBookFairies.
